Aonair i slua
Artist Statement
In this series, I’m reflecting on the concept of feeling alone in the busiest city in the world, New York. During the Thanksgiving Holiday I had the opportunity to photograph the many sites of Central Park. While there, with a lot of people around, I explored and captured many images of the quiet and lonely areas of the park. There are little to no people in these images because even in some of the quietist areas you can never escape the crowd. I wanted to keep the felling of loneliness while also maintaining the peaceful side as well. “Aonair i slua” seemed fitting due to it’s Gaelic translation “alone in a crowd”.
